FRIDAYS
AT FIRST
The First, Third and Fifth Friday Nights will be MOVIE NIGHT starting
at 6:30 pm. Bring your family, firends and neighbors for an
evening of fun. We will watch a family friendly movie and
enjoy snacks together. This is an opportunity to have a night
out that is fun for everyone without any cost.
The Second Friday Night will be GAME NIGHT starting at 6:30
pm. Do you have a favorite game? Bring it, your
family, your friends and neighbors to an evening of playing games,
snacks and fellowship. We have bumper pool, foosball, and
scrabble. Again, another night filled with fun at no cost.
The Fourth Friday Night will be TRAVEL NIGHT starting at 6:30
pm. Let's travel around the world without leaving
Union! People who have been to many exciting places in our
country and around the world will share their pictures and tell of
their adventures. We could go to Antarctica, Japan, Costa
Rica, Egypt, or The Grand Canyon. There is no cost and plenty
of snacks for all to enjoy.

Helping opportunity: Caring
volunteers to visit patients at the TIP Hospice, serving Franklin
County. No previous experience necessary. Volunteers may choose
assignments that suit their time and interests. Call the church for
details.
Women's news:
Morning Circle will meet on October 24th at the
church at 9:00 am to work in the kitchen. Doris is the
hostess and will proivde the dessert. A snack lunch may be
brought if you desire.
We are now in the process of collecting Bar Codes
from Best Choice food items. Please save these bar codes and
place them in the box labeled, Trash to Treasure,
located in the narthex. Church World Service receives $60.00
for every 1,000 bar codes turned in.
A big THANK YOU from the Presbyterian Women for
the very successful anniversary celebration day for Reverend Linda,
October 26th. Thank you to those who brought and served food,
the set up and clean up crew, the decorating bunch, the church
cleaners, to Pam for the wonderful power point presentation and the
table favors, to Keith for acting as MC, to Mike for the reception
bulletin and to Cheryl, accompanist. A lot of time and effort
was put into this event and it was gratifying to see it all come
together perfectly. A special thank you to Theresa, who sewed
the sindow treatments in the kitchen, nursery, maintenance room, Sunday
School rooms and women's restroom. She was assisted by Martha
Ann and Dorothy. If anyone was not mentioned, we are very
grateful for the sharing of your talents and ask humbly for your
forgiveness.
The December 6th Christmas Party has been changed
to Friday, December 12th, 11:30 am, at Rik's Steakhouse.
Please bring a $5.00 gift exchange and one dozen cookies to share.
WORLD
COMMUNITY DAY FALL BRUNCH, Tuesday, November 11th, 9:30 am at First
Presbyterian Church. Sponsored by Church Women United and
Presbyterian Women. Panelists are: Reverend Mary
Rose Fox, Grace Family, Reverend Linda Maconochie, Reverend Robin
Morgan, Peace Lutheran, Reverend Gerry Proctor, Zion UCC, Ms. Mary
Salois, Chaplain-Manager of Pastoral Services at St. John's Hospital,
Reverend Nancy Smith, First United Methodist. These women
will be discussing Women in the Ministry.
Come and invite your friends to hear this interesting talk.
ANNUAL FALL BRUNCH The Annual
Fall Brunch given by the PW will take place Tuesday, November 11th, at
9:30 am. The program will be a panel of six women pastors
from the Union/Washington area who will discuss Women in
Ministry.
Men's news:
CALLING ALL MEN. That is if you are a
male between the stages of high school and alive. The
Presbyterian Men's Breakfast is always held on the Second Saturday of
the month at 8:00 am at the White Rose. We begin by having
breakfast and conversation. Then we will do a Project
together. The project may be at church or at one of our
church members homes. We will be finished before
lunch. Plan to participate the whole morning or come when
your schedule allows. Let's make this an important ministry
of our church.
Youth news:
HELP OUR HIGH SCHOOL BAND and CHOIR
STUDENTS The band and choir students will be selling script
cards each week. These cards are gift cards to gas stations,
stores, and restaurants. You buy the card for the face value
and the business gives a percentage to the students. There is
no additional cost to you. To buy a gift card, see
Abby, Anna or Cara. They will have an order form for you
to complete. You give them a gheck for the amount
and the next Sunday they will bring you your card. The band
and choir are going to Memphis, TN for a competition this spring.

Activities:
Deacon news:
Eight families, individuals were given
assistance during the month of October with $370.00
provided for: Ameren UE: Single mother of three, Special
needs, Single mother, Single unemployed mother, Family of
four, car accident, injury, Single mother, full time student, Single
mother on SSI. Rent: Single mother of two, low
paying job. MO Natural Gas: Single unemployed
mother of two. Thank you to everyone for your support of the
Bake Sale on October 19th. Over $400 was added to the Deacons
Fund. As of the end of October, 75 families or individuals
were assisted financially by the Deacons. The amount of
assistance this year is $3,320.00. THANK YOU on behalf of
those who are in desperate need.
The Deacons will meet regularly on the third
Sunday of each month.
Food Pantry news:
Union Food Pantry always needs food and
appreciates all donations. Items for your consideration are:
flour, sugar, coffee, cereal, dry pasta, canned fruit, juice,
spaghetti, tomato sauce, kool aid, pancake mix, canned meat dinners,
syrup, and personal items. Perishable items (those needing
refrigeration) cannot be accepted. Money is always welcome, and is used
to purchase meat and other items. At the current time they have an
abundance of canned corn, green beans and peas.
There are Food Pantry donation boxes at this and
many local churches. Contributions of grocery items can also be taken
directly to the food pantry at 115 Locust Street, Union. Contributions
of cash can be mailed to the Union Food Pantry, % the Union Ministerial
Alliance, PO Box 101, Union, MO 63084.
Thanks also to all the unsung heros who
participate in organizations or by themselves contributing
both with items and their time that greatly impact the success
of the Food Pantry.
